We believe that stories continue to change the world.
We’ve all walked away from a well-told story, somehow changed: a change of heart, a change of perspective, a change of mind. Or maybe we love the way that stories can, for a moment (or a month), take us away from the cares and troubles of our lives.
And some of us, after experiencing that, want to do it, too. We want to write stories that will do for others what these incredible stories have done for us.
That’s what we’re all about here at The Stories Between Us. We want to create a community of story-tellers who create novels and memoirs, short stories and epics, screenplays and poems, where we can all learn and grow and be encouraged in the craft.

Who are we? I’m glad you asked.
Shawn is an award-winning novelist by night (with five titles under his belt) and a collaborator and co-writer by day (having worked on 25+ books with other individuals, publishers, and authors). He has an honors degree in English, has been making a living as a writer for eleven years, is represented by agent Rachelle Gardner, and has released books independently and with publishers.
Maile has an honors degree in English, has written three novels, and is represented by literary agent Don Pape, with a middle-grade novel currently under submission. She has raised six children in the last 17 years and is beginning to have more time to dedicate to her first love…no, not Shawn. Writing.
She has taught writing in many different settings, including in her university’s writing center as an undergrad and as a table leader for the Black Barn Online.
Both Maile and Shawn love coaching and encouraging other writers, something they do regularly on their podcast, The Stories Between Us.
